FCO Minister, Lord Triesman, has expressed his concern at recent reports of increased tension and military movements in and around Baidoa. On 21 July, Lord Triesman said: 'I am aware of the media reporting of an increase in tension and military movements in Somalia. With the rest of the international community, and in line with the Transitional Federal Charter for Somalia, the UK fully supports the Transitional Federal Government and recognises the Transitional Institutions as the only route to restoring peace, stability and governance, including security, to Somalia.'
